Wanna go to North India, where to go?

I'm Vietnamese.I'm staying in Dubai now. I wanna go to India. I wonder that whether I have to have visa?

It will be a trip for traveling, and I have friends there also. Some people said that I can go to India without having visa, because they will put the visa stamp on my passport on arrival. If anybody has any information about that, please let me know. Thank you so much!
