How To Learn Hindi From Tamil Language?

English vs Hindi : Realistically speaking how important is it to know our national language?

  • Forget patriotism, other than that, how important is it to know hindi.I'm from Tamil Nadu and so far IDK hindi and most of the people in my state who are like me have gone to different parts of the country havent found it to be a problem, infact a friend of mine got to learn hindi within a month!!! But not so the case with English, in most of the MNC,English plays an important role in getting a job. Many talented academically good candidates gets left behind because of lack of knowledge of English. Now dont say its invasion of foreign language, its been there for many years and now its become a necessity whether we like it or not What do you think

  • Answer:

it doesn't matter whether it is national /international/or mother toungue what is the purpose of talking you express your views/p;oints/opinion to others so if you talkin which language the other(s) will understand is important so whatever may be your language it should be understood correctly that is more important if you are adamant in your language the other may ignore you

Hindi is a beautiful language,in my opinion. English is no doubt,a very nice language too. Even though i'm a bengali,i love to speak Hindi.and i make it a point to speak it correctly! Dunno why it is not considered important in our country and elsewhere :( People in the developed countries(like the US)learn to speak Spanish,French,Mandarin, etc.but, not Hindi which is quite sad. The schools, colleges and offices in India want us to speak in English, instead of Hindi maybe because English is the most popular language in the world.English is not the main language of many countries yet they speak n understand it. In our country(India),most people speak wrong English and wrong Hindi because every state has its own language.Hindi is spoken differently in every state.I think its very important for us to speak any language(that we learn)in the right way. Hindi may not be as important as English in today's world but,it should still be learnt and respected.

Learning Hindi is not necessary. you only need to learn your mother tongue and english for communicating with people of other states. If you want to learn other languages that is good but that is not a necessity.

i agree ...but i m from New Delhi and i know how important is to know English no matter where ae you from in India. but the worst part is that we some one as an inferior person who doesnt know English, although i respect all languages but i hv a soft part in my heart for Hindi, no matter how modern I have become, but i never forgets to talk in Hindi with friends and family.

Both languages are very important now. English is a must if you need to survive in the private sector. Hindi is needed to communicate in the north and other southern states other than Tamil nadu. If you dont need to work outside your state then just english is enough.

Completely agree with you. There is no logic in choosing Hindi as the National language as it is definitely not the most spoken language in India. It is just that radicals in the parliament after the independence just wanted to add fuel to the fire of communal-ism and so started calling India/Bharat as Hindustan (highlighting it as a hindu nation) and so laid emphasis on 'joining' the country with one language, Hindi.

i wanted someone to ask a question like this so i could share this thing one of our teachers said to us: the very purpose of language is to facilitate communication. if you have to get your work done and for that you must know a particular language, then learn it, use it & forget about it.. language is just a tool, getting obsessed with a particular language is just foolishness

You need to be managable in both languages. This is because 90 percent of people in Rural India (and even in Urban India in states like UP, Bihar etc) dont understand English, hence Hindi is required. On the other hand, most people in Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and North-East dont understand Hindi properly, hence, we need to have some English. But if you are living for a long time in some place, then some local language is required, since, you find some people who dont understand either English or Hindi. I am staying in Bangalore for some time, and hence, have to communicate in Kannada to the above mentioned people (although broken). In the nutshell, three languages are required. English, Hindi and Local Language.

ya what ever you said is correct, in our daily life we dont need the knowledge of hindi when we know english we can handle with it in the corporate sectors and it is essential when we goto foreign countries but when we goto other places in india to deal with the common people we definitely need hindi and one more its our national language. if weput small effort on it we can learn it easily by watching movies and by speaking with other peopleand getting knowledge of an additional language definitely helps at sometime in life. and dont be hardly think of that eventhough we dont know hindi we can handle with some knowledge of understanding it
