  • Hi people! I've been to three metros in India and will be going to Pune shortly for the first time. I would like to know the following things about the city: 1. Are there supermarkets in Pune? Like Spencer's or More. or Food World? 2. which are the best areas for shopping? Specifically for clothes and electronics? 3. Is Viman Nagar a good location in Pune? How far would be the posh locations in Pune from this area? 4. Does Pune have shopping malls like the ones in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore? 5. Do the people there speak Hindi? If not, what are the languages other than Marathi that they follow? It would be of great help if you can answer these questions accurately. Thanks.

Specifically for clothes and electronics? For clothes visit Laxmi Road area where you will find a very good shops for sarees, punjabi dresses and Men's wear. 3. Is Viman Nagar a good location in Pune? How far would be the posh locations in Pune from this area? Yes it is a good location and is bit far from the main city. 4. Does Pune have shopping malls like the ones in Mumbai, Kolkata and Bangalore? Yes there are number of shopping malls especially on Senapati Bapat road and University Road. These roads are nearer to each other. 5. Do the people there speak Hindi? If not, what are the languages other than Marathi that they follow? Yes people can speak Hindi. English also many people understand. It would be of great help if you can answer these questions accurately. You are most welcomed to Pune

Here are the answers! 1. Yes there are lots of supermarkets in Pune.. More, Reliance fresh, Spencers for food items, Big Bazar, KK market etc for general shopping , there are some new electonics and furniture superstores too. 2. There are big showrooms for Sony, Philips etc.. for clothes there are numerous malls .. if you want to buy western clothes go to camp area, for ethnic / puneri clothes / sarees go to the city area.. laxmi road and surrounding area. 3. Viman nagar is a good location , you can go anywhere in Pune in 30-45 mins 4. Yes, there are malls like Pyramid, Pune central etc in Pune 5. People speak all three English, Hindi and Marathi... in central city area people mostly speak Marathi but everyond understands other languages i mean hindi and english and can speak too and you wouldn't have ANY problem if you don't know Marathi. Welcome to Pune!
