Please do not worry about safety. Mumbai is one of the safest place in India, whatever be the time. The best and safest way ( if you are really worried ) is to hire a vehicle for yourself. A car or a small van will do for you. The vehicle operators charge based on either time or the distance. There are several such vehicle operators in and around Vile Parle ( near to the International airport ). Ask somebody from the area ( your relative or a friend ) to book such a vehicle in advance. This will be the most safest and reliable means to travel to Bombay Central railway station. No need to call your brother all the way from a distant city of Ahmedabad. Welcome!!

/take a taxi from sahar airport to bombay central rly stn./ pre paid taxi with the help of police./.taxi is safe as the particulars are noted by police/.one taxi will do 2 suitcases on the carrier,2 in trunk at the back,1 in the front seat. / maruti van or tata sumo . [bombay central is one hour away] isicomfortable/..or engage from a reputed travel agent a spacious vehicle. you can go to Andheri station which is 3 km away in 10 minutes. and catch 6 am train to ahmedabad.
