What is a good place to visit in India near Mumbai or Maharastra?

• I am in India and I want to go along for a little tourism. I've been to many places like Maha-Baleshwar, Dehli, Agra, Hardwar, Rishikesh and South India. This year we were thinking about Kullu-Manali or Kerela. Someone suggested that I should go to Saguna Baug which seems like a pretty nice place (http://www.sagunabaug.com/). I want to know if there are other places like this near Mumbai, Maharastra.

  Firstly what time of the year you want to go. Kullu Manali and Kerala are far from Mumbai. You want close by places, do Aurangabad, Daulatabad, Ajanta, Ellora and can even sneak in Lonar Additional details based on your inputs: It depends on what kind of attractions you are looking for and when are you visiting India. India is a very large country and very diverse in its climate and culture so these aspects are important. Nonetheless if you are visiting India there are certain unique places you can visit even in Monsoons. (Kerala is not one of the places to visit in Monsoons) 1. Himalayas - You can do Himanchal - Simla is the capital but commercialized too much better is Kullu, Manali of Spiti. (December to Feb. chances of snow). You can also do Ladakh in Jammu and Kashmir. It is desolate desert Mountain ....very exotic 2. Religious places - Best is Varanasi for its ghats on the ganges. If interested in buddhism, you can include bodh gaya and sanchi (while in Sanchi don't miss bhimbetka) 3. Places of historic heritage - Agra in North, Konark and bhubaneshwar in east, Hampi, Badami, Pattadakal and Aihole in south, Ajanta-Ellora, Daulatabad in west These are the ones advisable to do during Summer Monsoons
