Can I bring packed food to India?

  • I am going to Mumbai for a few weeks, I would like to bring a little of my favorite food such as pasta, soups, noodles, tea , will I be able to do this without any hassle or is it forbidden? Thank You

You sure can bring pre-packaged food! However, you'd be happy to know that instead of lugging bulky soup cans or pasta boxes, you might want to carry just a few and buy some here. You'll be surprised how easily and readily available "imported or foreign" food is. Everything from cereal to baby food to pasta to mac and cheese - you'll be likely to find it at any grocery store in Mumbai. While you're at it, maybe you can taste Indian food as well that simply requires you to put a packet in hot water and voila - your meal's ready. Not exactly gourmet but serves the purpose nonetheless.
