Does Chennai has good/decent hotels?

Pls tell me good hotels near by Chennai Consulate ,I will be dropping at Central Railway station.?

  • Hi, Please tell me good hotels near by Chennai Consulate. I will be coming thru train from HYD - CHENNAI CENTRAL. Also pls specify if there is good accomodation near by Rly Stn so that i can stay there. Here the contraint is : My wife is 2 months pregnant. Doctors suggested avoid travel. But this is must for stamping. What is distance/Time to Chennai Consulate from Central rly stn. WHat is the best option among staying near by stn or near by Consulate ? How good are the roads between rly stn and Consulate? If cabs are available how much appx. will be charges ? Thanks, Kumar

    You can stay at Hotel Palmgrove a stone throw from the consulate. Medium budget hotel.There is also park hotel opposite the consulate which is higher priced.Both are walkable distance from the consulate less than 3-5 mts. Distance from rly stn to consulate is 7-8kms. travelling time by auto should be half an hour and slightly higher during peak times.there are also call taxis outside the rly station. charges should be between 80-150max. Staying near the consulate should be the best option. roads are quite good. Consulate is located on the main arterial road.

Your question is not clear. near by Central railway station hotel Picnic is good. you may stay there. regarding consulate you mean American consulate is near jaminy flower bridge is about 5 kms from central railway station. suryanarayanan

While we came for stamping we stayed opposite to the Consulate, b'coz we don't want to rush to the consulate on the Interview day, also we all knew very well about the city traffic. The hotel name is Mars International, just a 1/2 km from the consulate, its a kind of budget hotel with good facilities. We just stayed only for 5 hours. After that we moved to Park Sherton. Google it and pls find the address if u wish. Also some expensive hotels in the Mount Road straight opposite to the Consulate. Anyhow she is going to travel from Central to Consulate, after finishing the interview at consulate shift ur room nearer to the Central Rly station. So that she could avoid the tension at the interview day. As for me, that is the main concern. I don't care if i miss the train or bus. I can get another in next 10 mins, but consulate is not like that....
