    Triplicane, which is just 2km away from island grounds should well suit for your day's stay. Plenty of semi luxury hotels can be found in the entire stretch behind the Chepauk stadium. The transport to Island grounds should also not be a problem anytime from this place. I can remember of is the Hotel New Park in Bells road.

There are lots of hotels around chennai central railway station especially adjacent to the ripon building housing chennai corporation which is the next building to the railway station. Island grounds are very near to these places a couple of kms away.
