Answer:
Hello, Greetings! I would like to inform you that I Chennai has mostly more humidity then hot weather: (1) Request your sweet husband to put an AC in your HOME SWEET HOME (Prefer your bedroom) (2)Drink more fresh lemon juice and give it too him also... (3)it will rehydrate your body. take more butter milk in meals. avoid to take spicy food. Always prefer to put Deo on body. Do not work fast else you will soon get tired. (4) Water is salty in Chennai...buy 20 litre water-bottle for drink and to cook. you can use normal water for allother purpose. (5) if you and your fiance are planning to take a new apartment search for a new apartment which has lot of windows and it has good height so that air can pass. (6) Start your daily life as early in the morning (5-6 AM). (7) Take Coconut water also. Currently I am moving to Chennai this week...I am also on the same page. Cheers.....

Sorry to say, your friends and relatives are right. But it also depends on in which area exactly you are living. For example, if you will live in areas full of trees like some streets in anna nagar, then no problem.up to april no problem, you can tolerate if you are anywhere in chennai, but after april i am sorry again, anyhow welcome to chennai, chennai also having another face like beaches, etc which you would love!

Hot Weather, Water Scarcity is common. Someone forgot to tell you about Power cuts during hot summer. Even sea breaze won't help you very much! Humidity will make you swet! Don't forget mosquito problem during monsoon season. If you can avoid moving to Chennai better avoid it, I am not trying to scare you but telling you the reality. If you have no options, bring in more patience and please follow other users answer because they covered pretty good. Good Luck!
