  • Answer:

Buses run a plenty but can be crowded. There are different levels of service, basic, express, A/C etc. These are convenient, except for busy traffic areas. The system is well connected, no train system as yet. The future is surely good since Metro rail system is being constructed. Autos charge by the meter except after dark or earl morning hours where they may demand a Rs.20 extra or one and half times the meter. They are not irritating like Chennai :) You can use Hindi and English - may be not as freely - you shouldn't expect it to be free, it is a South Indian state, albeit better than all 4 south Indian states. Many people on the street do speak or understand Hindi - they will try and speak a broken Hindi, if nothing. Better than Hyderabad, not at all like Chennai. It is Kormangala that you are traveling to. Koramangala is an expensive area, for your budget, I suggest you look for hotels near Madiwala or BTM Layout nearing Koramangala. You can use just dial Bangalore number to find any hotel or anything in Bangalore - 080-23333333, it is a very popula and reliable service.

Well, good observation about cities. Lol. Bangalore is a metropolitan. Most languages work here. No problem with hindi, english, telugu, however, tamil works well in some areas. Try service apartments in and around Koramangala, check near Ejipura small cross road behind the koramangala bus depot. For longer stay, you could check in at any of the guest houses in the same region or in surrounding. Autorickshaws in Bangalore are mixed--like in Mumbai and Chennai. You have the right to pay by meter, unless it is too early or late in the day--wherein confirm before using one. Best are the volvo buses if available, next is the JNURM buses, next is auto. Only thing to be aware of is loss of time due to traffic jams. Add a 30% to your schedule both ways. To Koramangala from Majestic (Central Bus Stand)/railway station--Koramanagala Depot.
