I have travelled through the third route many times and the road is very good, but for the traffic ,plenty of lorries plying in the route ,alternatively there is a state highway that connects after thoppur right upto hosur which is a really good road and less traffic. first two routes are good but takes more time than the third one i would suggest the third route have a great driving !!

seeing the road condition the 3rd route is the best option.

forget the first choice. the road is too bad. route 2 is also not that much good. only alternative is the third one. But you can take the NH 47 to salem then dharmapuri and onwards cutting bhavani and mettur. If you are aon a holiday mood there is nice alternative - Cochin - munnar - theni - Vathalgundu- Dindigal - karur- namakkal - salem - dharmapuri- . I am not sure about the road condition from ernakulam to Theni of the cochin - madhurai highway but the rest from Theni it is fine till Bangalore. 4 lane trafic from dindigal onwards.
