Where i can get MBA internship in Bangalore?

Questions about Bangalore?

  • Hey experts! I have a few questions about Bangalore (Bangaluru) India. I am going to do a 20-week placement in an NGO working with sustainable tourism development in India and their office is in Bangalore, and I have been wondering what to expect. I do not get paid, I will work as a volunteer, and my girlfriend is going to start another internship at a major Hotel, also in Bangalore. We are both Europeans - she is Dutch and I am Danish. So, here are some questions. For a nice fully furnished apartment, with good standards, who much will we have to pay? (this means including TV and channels, Internet ADSL, Double bed, nice kitchen, office desk, little dining table etc.) A/C would be nice but is not priority. We only need one bedroom, but a living room and a balcony would be nice too. Do you know any good and reliable websites where I can search for FURNISHED apartments in Bangalore. I prefer a website with pictures so I can get an idea about the place. How is public transportation in Bangalore? and how much does it cost? Any 'zones' in Bangalore that would be better than others to live in? and any zones i should NOT go to? Thank your very much! All help appreciated. Also if there is something completely different that would be good to know. :) Chris

  • Answer:

Had you mentioned the locality of your 'office' and that of your girl friend, it would be a lot easier for zeroing on the vicinity of your lodging requirements. In any case, for the rent of about Rs.10 k (roughly 200USD) you can get a decent single bedroom accommodation., preferably apartments. At bangalore, you can manage without A/C., that too in winter now till next March/April. Public transports are plenty at cheap rates-monthly passes are being sold by the transport company (Govt. only) which is very affordable.Again it depends on the place where you live where you two have to go for work.

Bengaluru is a comparatively "open minded" city as compared to other cities in India. Locals welcome outsiders. Some answers to your questions- I would suggest looking for a place close to either your volunteering organization or your girlfriend's hotel since commuting is quite a time consuming, stressful task. A furnished single bedroom apartment or "flat" as they call it, averages between Rs.10,000 - Rs.30,000 depending where you live. www.expatriates.com is a good site to start an apartment hunt. There's craigslist too. Public transport is mainly buses and three wheelers called "autos". Buses with different facilities(regular, limited stop, a/c) run with different prices. You can expect to pay about Rs100 if you are traveling from north to south. CAUTION- Metro work is ongoing in Bangalore and this has caused a lot of trouble for traffic. Although abundant, they don't always keep time and are crowded. Autos are three wheeled open taxis that run by the meter. You can hire one at sight. Sometimes, the auto drivers ask for a fixed price which you can usually bargain to half of the price. Again, suggest you take a local acquaintance for the first time to avoid getting cheated. Some popular, safer zones - Koramangala, HSR Layout, Jayanagar, Rajajinagar, Malleswaram, Basavangudi Some things to expect - Stares- people in India love to stare, you won't find them smiling unless you know them. It is not considered rude to stare while it is to talk to strangers. So get used to it. It has decent weather with low humidity, except during March through May when it is summer. Do not walk in dark alleys in the nights, especially your girlfriend. Public transport is abundant, although it is terribly crowded and so is the traffic. Lots of pubs and bars (Brigade road) to hang out. Some shopping areas(Brigade road/ Commercial street/ Koramangala for high end, Malleswaram, Jayanagar for regular)Try not to buy stuff on the street without a local friend with you, or you may be cheated. Lastly, don't worry about your trip. Mostly people are very friendly if you ask them for help, many speak English, even if broken. do not expect toilet papers or clean public rest rooms, insist on bottled water since you may not have the immunity as the locals do. Good luck Chris!
