Whats a widget?

  • Answer:

From wikipedia. In computer software, a widget engine is host software system for physically inspired applets on the desktop (desktop widgets). Two commonly referred to type of widgets are the Yahoo! Widgets and the Dashboard widgets of Apple Macintosh computer users. I think your question has to do with yahoo widgets which include a digital clock/alarm/countdown timer, a weather forecaster, stock ticker, among other things.

a long, and i do mean a long time ago, there was actually a product called the "Widget" and it was like a little razor with a hard yellow plastic case, used for scraping the vehicle stickers off of windshields, now, it is mostly used as a name of an imaginary product for different economics classes--its like saying "X" in a math class

if you have a mac you'll know...it's like a whole bunch of mini applications or 'tools' that show up on your screen when you go to the 'Dashboard' button. You need to see it to understand. Some widgets tell you the weather, or tell you the current time. Others also serve as a calculator or a dictionary....etc. etc.

A Widget is a miniature program that runs in the Dashboard application on a Mac. They're fun, useful, and, for the most part, free.
