Why did my yahoo desktop icon change?

If I switch from AOL to Yahoo, will I get an icon on my desktop that allows me to get online to Yahoo?

  • I have a Yahoo Personals account. BUT I am also a (very) long time AOL member. I am becoming disappointed in the AOL service, and would like another source of Internet access. I have a number of questions: 1) In order to get online with Yahoo, do I need to open (pay for) an account other than my Yahoo Personals? 2) If I open a regular (online, e-mail, etc.) Yahoo account, and later decide to cancel my Yahoo Personals account, how will that affect my regular Yahoo Internet access account? 3) If I open a regular Yahoo e-mail, online access account - will I have a 'Yahoo Icon' on my desktop as I do now wil AOL, that will allow me to gain access to the Internet? 4) If I (need to) open another regular Yahoo account for e-mail, and online access - how will that affect my 'Internet Explorer' browser? I am really not familiar with getting online services with any other source than AOL, so any explanation of how to switch to a regular Yahoo accoun

  • Answer:

Yahoo is not an ISP (internet service provider). AOL is an ISP. You can contact your cable or telephone company about getting broadband or DSL (respectively). *That's high speed internet* If you just want dial up you can contact your phone company to see what kind of solutions they offer as well. You are not going to get an icon on your desktop that lets you connect to Yahoo the way you connect to AOL. AOL is very elementary and basic.
