Where can i purchase and american express gift card?

  • i think i heard drug stores like cvs, druane reade. is that true & are their any other stores to get it from. & i know you can order them offline but i want to get them from a store. thanks!

CVS definitely carries them in $25, $50, and $100 denominations. Be forewarned though, there's a $4.95 surcharge to activate the card and they can't be returned at the store. You have to call American Express and they cancel the gift card and send you a check for reimbursement. Also there's a weird issue when trying to use American Express gift cards at some stores. Occasionally you need to know the exact balance on the card for it go through. This doesn't happen with Visa gift cards, however. They can just be swiped and work like debit cards.

I see them at Giant Food , an Shoppers all the time. I dont see why CVS would not carry them.
