How to safely use PayPal?

How to use paypal on Ebay?

  • Hi my question is about paypal. I have a paypal account linked to my bank account. I do NOT have a credit card. I've listed an item on ebay when my paypal balance is $0. Does this mean it directly takes it from my bank account? and if so is there a fee since they cant take it from my paypal balance? and the other thing, if I want to buy something can I buy it with no paypal balance and paypal just takes the funds out of my bank and straight to my seller's paypal.. Or do I need to put funds into my paypal balance ( takes 3-5 days, I dont want to wait) first and then make a purchase that is equal or lower than the new paypal balance? Thanks for any responses.

  • Answer:

Okay, you are fine listing items for sale on ebay. Once the item sells and the payment is put into your paypal account by the buyer, paypal takes their fees from those funds, not before. If you want to buy something, you don't need to transfer funds ahead of time, paypal simply takes the funds out of your bank account ( takes a few days) and sends the seller a notification that payment is on the way.

If there's not enough money in your PayPal account, it will be taken automatically from your bank. It still takes around 3 days for it to get there, so the seller gets a message that the PayPal payment is pending. Some sellers send the goods straight away and some wait until the money arrives.
