Is the Red Star World Wear free sunglasses offer a scam?

  • I was looking through a maxim magazine and saw this add for free sunglasses with paid postage and shipping and handling. They claim that the sunglasses up to 200 dollars are free to users as long as they pay shipping and handling charges. Has anyone purchased these and if so how do you like them? I dont want my credit card info all over the place or stolen or worst yet, the glasses not even show up.

    "Red Star" is an important Chinese cultural (and communist party) symbol and the name used in many Chinese companies so I expect that these are Chinese sunglasses. Likely an affiliate or marketing arm of Wenzhou Redstar Optical Co., Ltd.

I actually had my sunglasses come in today and i thought it was a scam too but i tried it and the sunglasses are actually well constructed and ive compared them to several of my name brand styles and there of just the same quality mostly this is a new company that is just trying to get there name out there and its good brand

The glasses are not actually worth $200. They are of the same quality glasses you get in tourist spots or road-side vendors that sell 2 pairs for $20. Instead of charging for the glass they charge $18 for shipping. Actual shipping costs is only of couple of dollars. You can certainly buy it, but just know that you are getting a $10 glass for $15.
