PAYPAL question, very important!?

I just got a paypal account, and i'm wondering in order to make a purchase on Ebay, through paypal, do you have to transfer money into your paypal account from your bank account, if it's linked to the paypal account. I thought you had to transfer money into the paypal account, which i've been doing and it takes like ... a week, but anyways, my friend said no, after you link your bank account to the paypal account you do not transfer money in the paypal account in order to make a purchase and it just comes right from your bank account?

With ebay you don't have to transfer money into your paypal. But sometimes when you a low level mom and pop website. Sometimes in that instance you have transfer money into your paypal account.
