Is it possible and safe to shop online with a PS3?

I was just wondering if it was possible to use my PS3 to shop online because my PC is most likely filled with spyware and viruses due to the fact that I don't have any virus security. I am planning on using a pre paid card or debit card to purchase items online. So to avoid risk of getting my card number stolen from online hackers is it possible to shop online with my PS3 and is it safe? I figured it would be safer, if possible, because I think PS3's can't have viruses and spyware. I could be wrong. Thanks for the help!

But this is what is recommended by most; use a computer other than the one you use for searching on the internet. It is all the searching which causes a computer, like your PS3, to get viruses and spyware.
