How do I get my refund from Paypal?

How to get refund on paypal?

  • I got scammed $185 by some girl trying to sell her laptop on facebook... I called paypal and they said to ask her for a refund, and then if she doesn't, they'll take matters to their own hands. But recently I heard that the only thing paypal can do if I want my money back is close her account. So I'm not going to get my money if she has a balance of $0.00 ? I thought she would have a negative balance or paypal can take money from her bank? I'm not the only one she scammed , 3 other girls paid her for an iPAD. She was selling the same one!!! Ps, how do I contact facebook to report her???

  • Answer:

The police aren't going to be able to track down that anonymous scammer, all you have is ONE of "her" fake names, ONE of "her" free email address and ONE of her fake items "she" pretends to sell. None of that information is going to help the police find your scammer sitting in a cyber cafe half way around the world from you. "She" is probably a he anyway. Paypal can only get your money back if there is money left in the scammer's paypal-linked bank account. Scammers know this and will immediately withdrawal your money and disappear. No money in the scammer's paypal-linked bank account means absolutely no possibility of refund for you. Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of being the perfect buyer, great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram. You could post up the email address and the emails themselves that the scammer is using, it will help make your post more googlable for other suspicious potential victims to find when looking for information. Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash. Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer. If you google "fake seller paypal Western Union", "fake laptopl scam", "Western Union shipping scam" or something similar you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near victims of this type of scam.

PayPal is a bank. They will try to help you. If you wrote a regular check you would not expect your bank to give you a refund if you were cheated. It is much easier to get a PayPal refund when it is with a store payment. When it is person to person it is hard to prove anything. ʎəɿʞɹɐq  ̊ ͜͡● ̊

Get back to paypal asap and tell them you can't get in touch with the scammer, and let them know about the other scams as well. Make sure you have all the info ready in reference to the scam.
