When would be the best time to list my eBay item?

Can you not sell your item on ebay after auction has ended and before payment was confirmed?

  • please help...this is my first time selling on ebay and i'm unclear about the rules. so i recently listed an item for sale and when the auction was over my item was "sold" to the highest bidder. but my item on the list was recently damaged, and i don't know how to withdraw the item from listing when the auction just ended. i haven't received any payment yet, so any suggestions or rules i should know about cancelling my listing? please and thank you

  • Answer:

I suggest you contact your buyer to advise damage of the item & that you were unable to end the listing before the auction ended.(I would be apologizing profusely) Hopefully they will understand & not leave you negative feedback &/or open a non performing seller dispute. You'll need to send them a mutual withdrawal to cancel the transaction & for a refund of your FVF. See the site map for rules/tutorial etc for selling, that might be of some help to you.

If you are not sure what to do, you can always go to the help page and on the right hand side of the page there is a Contact Us button and you should be able to chat with someone from Ebay and hopefully resolve any issues you have.

apologize to the buyer, item defective. the buyer is able to leave feedback positive, neutral or negative.
