I have an Ebay bid problem!! Need Advice! Im bidding on a Japan Ebay and... ((Read More))?

  • Okay, so i'm bidding on an "Item" on a Japan Ebay site. So, Its 57,000 Yen, Which is ruffly, $667USD. Anyway, the BASE bid was 55,000 Yen, I bid 57,000 Yen and a day later someone FROM JAPAN, "lol" bid 56,000 Yen.. But it says im the highest bidder?!?!??!!? I dont understand??? Why would he bid lower than me im so confused! and im scared to death someone is going to "snipe" me at the last second HOW DO I SNIPE AND ASSURE I WIN???? So frustaiting lol :---(

    Just put in your maximum bid for the item, the most you are willing to pay for it, and let it ride. Ebay automatically bids for you in increments up to the amount of your maximum bid. That way you can sit back and relax. If you win it, great, if not oh well. There will be another one to bid on, that you can depend on.

What you bid doesn't necessarily show up to anybody else. You have a "highest bid," which is the highest you're willing to bid on the item (57,000 Yen). But your ACTUAL bid was only 55,000 Yen, which is what that other person saw you bid. They bid 56,000 as their highest bid, but that still didn't beat your highest bid. The bid stays as low as it can possibly be. For example, if I bid $20 on an item that has a base bid of $0.99 and nobody else bids, I only have to pay $0.99. Or say somebody comes along and bids $3, the bid jumps to $3, but it's still considered my bid. But say somebody bids more than $20, then the bid is theirs now. So the current bid isn't necessarily the highest bid. Hope that all made sense.

The person that bid lower than you is probably on drugs. If it says that you're the highest bidder, then you have nothing to worry about.
