Does anyone know of an Aspergers/high functioning school/tutoring service for grade 1?

I think I just fell for a scam. Anyone know about coastal reader service?

  • A few weeks ago I got a message saying that I won a $1,000 best buy gift card and to go online and put in the code and like an idiot I did that. So today I got a call from someone asking to speak to me (they knew my name) saying that I was a finalist in a $1 million dollar sweepstake and I had won a $1,000 dollar best buy gift card for my entry and that I was eligible for other gift cards. She said the only thing they ask of me is a subscription to their magazines. Then she asked me which credit gives me the best service. And I told her master card. Then she asked me questions about my marital status, age, occupation. She then transfered me to a supervisor and the supervisor asked a few questions and she that they needed to update my credit card #. And she said 'the master card starting with a 5. I asked her how she knew about my card and she said that mastercard sponsered me in the sweepstake. Like an idiot I gave my card #, email address and house address. After I got off the phone I just thought "what have I've done". So I wanted to know if anyone knows about coastal reader service and if its a scam. Thank you!

  • Answer:

All Mastercards start with a 5. They knew nothing until you gave the card number to them. I would call your credit card company and change the account number. You can be sure you are going to be charged for something on the card. I read about the scam and you can expect about 6 subscriptions. ℬ ℋ

Call master card immediately and cancel the transaction. If it's a scam, you could save yourself a lot of expense, if it's legit, you can clean up afterwards. I got sucked into a "5 magazines for 25$" deal some years ago, turned out is was 5 magazines for $25 a year each, and automatic acceptance of a 5 year term. It took a lot of doing, but I got out of it.

This is a classic scam that one of my former employers has been running well over a decade. If they didn't get you it's likely that one of THOUSANDS of other shady companies did. Anyway, it's also possible that they know that you have a mastercard because you ordered something from another company from which this scam company either bought, had your information shared, or actually stole your info from. Never respond to unsolicited sweepstakes and contests. If you get the come on for a gift card, run the other way.
