Can I use eBay with just a Paypal account?
-
Hey, Im 14 now and I'm a lot more into my studies, so when I was clearing out my room to prepare for my next year of school, I found a load of junk that I had grown out of like Yu-Gi-Oh cards, various other trading cards, toys, puzzles, board games, etc... So instead of getting rid of them all, my friend suggested that I sell everything to eBay. What a great idea! I immediately started taking pictures of a few products that I wanted to sell with my digital camera and loaded them onto my computer to sell on eBay... But my parents do not want me to use their eBay accounts, even though they have used the site for their own needs before. This is understandable however as I wouldn't trust a 14 year old child with access to my own credit/debit cards or bank account details. So I was wondering, since I have a Paypal account of my own, could I create an eBay account without providing any bank account details, but is connected to my Paypal account? So when I generate money from selling my products on eBay, I could channel the money only to my Paypal account. Is this possible? If it is not allowed for persons under the age of 18 to create an eBay account, my parents agreed that they would willingly create another eBay account that only used my Paypal account and as long as they don't have to provide any of their bank account details. Currently I have only got £0.55 in my Paypal account, but since I only plan to sell products, this isn't a problem and the amount of money saved should grow. To start with I will only sell products in the UK, and if that is successful, maybe ship some products out to other countries too. Is this possible? Are there any other alternatives? All help appreciated. Thanks, The Count.

It should be okay, but really you aren't supposed to have either a paypal account or an ebay account at your age, you are supposed to be 18 for legal reasons. Have your parents open the ebay account that you use just to be on the safe side. Since you already have the paypal account you should be fine.

I would check to see what the rules are for eBay in the UK regarding bank accounts, Paypal and eBay. Go to the help section of both eBay and Paypal to get your answer. I am in the States and my eBay is linked to Paypal, however I can transfer money between my bank account and Paypal when needed.
