Can I bid lower than starting bids on ebay?

Does my ebay account get blocked if i keep on canceling bids?

  • i am looking to buy items on ebay. i have 2 accounts and am bidding on the one item on both accounts. eg. im buying a nintendo ds the starting bid is 99p so with one of my accounts i bid 1 pound. leaving me the highest bidder. then with my other account i put a extremely high bid eg. 1000 pounds. then a minute before the auction ends i cancel that bid for 1 thousand pounds log onto my other account and win the bid. to get to the point does my account get blocked if i keep canceling bids

  • Answer:

You will have both your accounts suspended or cancelled by ebay. Apart from the fact this practice is dishonest & morally wrong, its against ebays policy. You are allowed a certain amount of bid cancellations but ebay will quickly catch on if you are abusing the system. Other members can see how many bid retractions you have so they can report you as well. If you value your ebay account I would stop doing this.

YES you are costing the seller money every time you do this- sellers must pay an insertion fee for each item that is not refunded to them, and every bidder that cancels a bid ( you can only cancel a bid up to 12 hours before an item ends) or doesn't go through with the sale cost that seller money.. It is illegal to do this, your bid is considered a legal contract. I don't know why you are going through all this trouble. Just put in your maximum bid on an item and let ebay's system bid it up automatically for you. What you are doing is also considered shilling on ebay. You can be taken to court for this activity and also will be permanently banned from ebay, which you deserve.

it doesn't really matter, if you put down 1000 pounts as your max bid. because it doesn't make the bid 1000 immediately, it makes it way up to 1000 pounds slowly if ppl even bid that high.

Yes it can and it should be. this practice is a type of stealing.
