How to extend a ebay listing?

EBAY SELLERS PLEASE.. Shipping fee on each additional item have not typed on the listing on ebay.?

  • So here's the story..Im a newbie selling in ebay. a buyer sent me a message that what if she will buy 2 or 3 boxes of candy is there any discount on shipping? I said yes if you will buy 2 boxes the shipping is $12 and if you will buy 3 the shipping would be $17. The shipping per box is $7 on my listing. Then I said wait for the invoice first before you pay so I could make a discount. The buyer committed to buy 3 boxes and waited the invoice. She agreed $17 for the shipping. Then now after I sent the invoice she said that based on my listing each additional items are free shipping. I did not know that I forgot to type $5 on each additional item so now she was asking me to abide on my listing or else she will report me to ebay. I know this is my mistake for not putting $5 on each additional item. But before it happened, the buyer asked me first for the shipping then she agreed now she wants me to give her the invoice with a $7 shipping fee for 3 boxes or else she will cancel the order and report me to ebay. And she said also that she will report my price on my listing because she said that my listing is double price from outside ebay. she knows that the product is cheaper outside of ebay. If i will sell the same price like outside ebay i wont be able to pay for the ebay fees and paypal fees and also wont gain any profit. So please help im being impatient with this buyer. Can you suggest what to do ebay sellers. thank you.

  • Answer:

1st of all you can charge what you like on ebay regardless of the cost of the item outside of ebay , at the end of the day the buyer has a choice where to buy from. She can not report the price you are charging - ebay wont care at the end of the day the higher the price your item sells for the more fees they make. as for the postage , I am afraid you must abide by what the listing states. If you made a mistake you are going to have to honor the mistake and learn a lesson from it. she can report you for this if you charge her extra for postage. You not the first to make a mistake and you wont be the last.

you are going to have to honor the listing on the shipping fee. and from now on , make SURE you read over your listings and make sure they are correct. also i dont know what you are selling but $7 for shipping sounds high, if you can fit it in a small priority box it is like $3.95.

Your customer sounds like a delight. Don't you just love people like that? I don't really have a constructive answer for you. Sometimes in business with people like that you just bite your tongue and take the loss to make it go away, but the chances are that she would leave negative feedback anyway. At least you'll know to double check your listing so that it doesn't happen again.

You screwed up...pure and simple. Give her the free shipping on the two additional boxes. Your loosing ten bucks because you screwed up. What may have happened is she may not have noticed the free shipping until after she communicated with you. Things like this have happened to me several times. I'll email the seller and ask a question and then I'll realize later that the answer was in the listing the whole time. All she's asking you to do is abide by what your listing says and you should. She's not the bad guy as you and some of the other answerer's seem to be suggesting.

You made a mistake and the person you are dealing with wants to take advantage of that and is even making threats, obviously you do not stand any chance of winning here. 1. So just go ahead and hold your head high and fulfill what you listed. play it nicely with her so that she does not leave you a negative feedback. I myself i'm usually skeptical buying from someone with 98% positive feedback, cos i do not know what action from him/her that took the 2% away. 2. You could ship with USPS 'Parcel post', takes longer but a lot cheaper. And have you heard of 35% chashback on ebay and pay pal sales? try it with this link: http://www.bigcrumbs.com/crumbs/landing.do?r=4somm&s=55121 See you there!

Recentely I sold an item on Ebay that was in error but luckily my buyer worked with me and for that I sent his stuff priority mail instead of parcel post which was not in the original shipping charge. Sometimes you just get mean-spirited buyers other times you get gems. (I am going to bet your buyer is in Florida, have been challenged by those residents so much I wish we can not only eliminate countries from who we can sell to but also certain states).
