Can someone on ebay rip you off?

Selling on eBay + using PayPal = RIPOFF.?

  • Could someone explain me, why combining eBay with PayPal is such a rip off when you sell stuff? I mean, I would like to sell a mobile phone for about £220 and eBay charges me £0.40 for auction. That's not much, but if the phone sells, they will charge me £22! Another thing is, if I sell my phone for £220, and eBay will charge me £22, I will have £198 on PayPal which will again charge me for ******* using it! LOL? I also give the free postage (£7), so at the end, I'm gonna end up with about £150. That is just terrible.

  • Answer:

Well try selling it somewhere else then. I don't think £150 is a bad price for a second hand mobile phone. I'd be really happy with that.Try not to be so greedy, then you'll feel happier about the whole thing.

You could sell it on Gumtree. Gumtree is owned by Ebay. It is like a local ads site and is free to use (I think). You can always use buy it now or put a reserve price and add the fees costs on top of the price. There are other online auctions such as CQ Out (but they are not as big as ebay).
