Is Ebay safe to buy?

Just don't agree to do the deal outside of eBay (if the seller happens to make that request, saying that they would save on fees so they could give you a better price or whatever), and deal with a seller that has a decent feedback rating. You almost have to use PayPal these days to pay for eBay items. Both PayPal and eBay offer some buyer protection. To take it even one step further, you could use a credit card to pay for items through PayPal. Then, if you get ripped off and pay pal and eBay are not helping you, you could just do a charge back with the credit card company. Just be sure to read the item description carefully and ask the seller any questions at all that you have before bidding, to save both yourself and the seller from a potential headache in the future. Some sellers accept returns, some do not. If you do start buying on eBay and see an item that you want listed in auction format, use a sniping site like Hidbid.com to bid for you, to hopefully save you some money. If you are looking for a relatively rare item, you can use a site like Ebuyersedge.com to create eBay saved searches, so that you get an e-mail when a new match is listed on eBay. If the item you're after is relatively common but maybe a bit tricky to spell, try a misspelling search site like Typojoe.com to possibly find an item that has the main key word misspelled. Most interested buyers would never see it, meaning less competition and probably a lower final price.
