Is buying from ebay safe?

  • I really want to buy things in ebay because I think they have great dealls on clothing, I just dont know how to buy stuff, are the sellers trustworthy?? Is buying and wearing clothes from ebay safe?(i want to buy a leather jacket from ebay I just want to be sure the jacket didnt belong to someone with stds. And youre not suppose to wash a leather jacket it will just ger ruined) can you please give me some advice on how to buy stuff from ebay?thanks

    Wish I had a dollar everytime someone asked this question. Here are my rules for buying on ebay. 1> Always, always, always check the sellers feedback, feedback is a very good indication of what the seller is like to trade with. Also if the seller has negative feedback dont assume the seller is bad, some buyers are complete nutters & will leave a negative rating in spite. Of course if they have several feedbacks saying Avoid scammer blah blah blah I would tend to look elsewhere for your item. You will learn to read inbetween the lines if you know what i mean. 2> Pay with paypal preferably funded with a credit card. Paypal has buyer protection should you not receive the item or it is significantly not as described. 3> If there is no postage quoted, always ask the seller for a quote. If the quote seems ridiculously high go elsewhere. 4> Im surprised that many people dont read the item description before they buy....mystery to me. Always read it & if in doubt or you have any questions..Ask the seller. BTW I suggest you buy a leather jacket that is NEW with Tags as there are no guarantees what the seller may have or not. Im sure they are not going to say in their listing Yes I have herpes but the jacket doesnt....... It does annoy me on the very odd occasion when the clothes I buy smell like cigarette smoke. Also sure you dont wash leather, follow the care tag? I lightly sponge mine with a damp cloth.

Most products are safe and legit but not most. I read an article than some kid in United Kingdom bought a game in ebay and when he opened it, it was full of cash. Police reported about a few thousand dollars in the case and confiscated it.

99% of ebay is safe...common sense really

The best way to get an idea of whether a seller is trustworthy is to look at their feedback rating and read the comments on items they have sold in the past. If a substantial number of people (lets say 30 or more) have given good feedback then they are safe. I have only ever had one bad experience on ebay and that was when someone took 10 days to send me a dvd and it wasn't royal mails fault as it wasn't christmas time or anyhting. I gave them neutral feedback saying arrived 10 days late and they retailiated by saying I had payed 10 days late. Petty Idiot
