The privacy is excellent. Not a lot of people get ripped off. There are things you can do to avoid bad sellers: The sellers have a "reputation" and a feedback section. Take a look at those. Click on the negative and neutral feedback and scroll down to see what the comments are. Often it's about shipping time or packing, and not the product quality. Also, after the sellers name is a number. This number represents the number of items they have sold. If you are buying something common, only buy from sellers with high numbers and high reputations. Like: ebaybowlsmoker (11,021) 97% No seller is perfect because no buyer is perfect. As long as the percent is in the 85%-100% you are about as safe as you can be. If you are buying something very special or unique, you will buy from private individuals who may not have a large number after their name. In that case I would send them a message and ask all the questions you can think of and see how they answer. Ask for more pictures of the item too! The way they reply to your messsge(s) will indicate if you can trust them or not. Keep in mind that when you first start to use eBay, you will have a small number and a reputation too!

I love UK eBay. Depends on what you buy though although my purchases range from clothes, toys and DVD's to furniture, minerals and I bought a car on eBay once that I was happy enough with. Yes there's dodgy sellers. But so is there on the market and the customer service Tesco offered me once after a tv/dvd combo went funny within two weeks of buying it off them has lead me to never trust Tesco again for purchases beyond groceries. Check the sellers feedback, look at what else they are selling and take it from there.

I'm not one for bashing ebay but it isn't always the most reliable website for purchasing items. Each item is placed on the website by someone and they could have just take a picture, put it up on the website, and said that they are trying to sell this item knowing that they don't really have it. Just be careful and make sure you contact whoever you bought the item(s) from if you do not receive them. Good Luck :]

EBay's fine I've bought lots of things there. If you pay with Pay pal your protected 2 ways (Last time I checked) with a refund from Paypal if the goods aren't as described and also a manuel reverse of the charges billed to your credit card though contacting your credit card company / bank. You have to send the item back with full insurance though & not to a post office box either. Best Wishes. Mars Mission.
