How to find out eBay shipping cost?

• I'm new to eBay, so this all confuses me. I went on the UPS website to find out the shipping cost but it says I have to also put the place where I'm shipping it to, to get the price. But I don't know where it's shipping to yet, the auction is still going on. Also, some other questions; do I have to pay to use eBay? I heard you have to give ebay 5% of the profits you make. And is there any way I can hide my town name? I saw some people who put their location as Southern (then the state) how do I do that too? I don't mind the state showing though. Please no mean or rude comments.

  It's much easier to use the shipping wizard, which is right on ebay when you list an item. It is right above where you put the shipping fee in, you will see "shipping wizard", click on that and you just need the weight ( an average) to figure out how much to charge. Always charge the furthest away from you for shipping and that way, if someone buys it in a state the furthest from you, you are covered. ( flat rate shipping). And yes you have to pay to sell on ebay, you also pay a fee to receive money on paypal when you sell an item. On ebay you have an insertion fee when you list an item and a final value fee when an item sells. PLEASE, read the info on both sites carefully and also locate the fee schedules on both and print them out so you know how much you are paying in fees. As far as the location, you can edit that, go on ebay to your account page and there will be a way to edit that info.
