Do they sell new things or old things in EBAY?

Ebay! i want to sell things on ebay but...?

  • i don't want to give them my home phone number. is there any way around it? they won't let me use my mobile number!

  • Answer:

Why don't you want to use your home number? All they do is call you, its an automated call that gives you a 4 digit number and that's it. you don't have to speak to anyone, just listen. If you're underage and don't want to do it because your parents will know, I recommend you don't do it. A while ago a friend of mine got a huge fine off ebay because they found out she joined before she was 18 and accused her for fraud. They can track you down from more than a home number, so be careful.

It's a security measure to make sure your not setting up multiple accounts for shill bidding. You can (once the account is set up) choose whether or not to display your number to the public.

there is no problem in giving ebay your home phone number they don't pass it on to anyone else nor do people you are buying from or selling to get your phone number

I asked my friend if i could put her number down, they don't usually phone. Depending on what you want to sell, try play.com There isn't any other way round it

You could always just give them your mobile number and say it's your home number. I don't have a home phone, so I gave my mobile number. It's just a precaution in case you try to scam someone, they try to get in touch with you and if they can't reach you by any means, they refund the buyer's money. Ebay does not give out your phone number to anyone.

you have to give a land line number for you to sell, i was a buyer for a long time, but when i wanted to sell they said i will only be able to by giving a land line, i emailed them a number of times saying that i dont have a land line i have a mobile but there is no way round it, if you want to sell then you have to give a land line and yes they do check because you give the phone number to them and they call back within seconds give you a code that you have to type into your ebay account. so if you are unsure then dont do it, there are alot of charges involved in selling, charges i didnt know about when i was a buyer, like listing fees, final selling fees, paypal take a fee from you for every single item sold, so i would always say to people have a good long think about it, yes i paid for a land line, if i knew about all the charges and hassle involved then i would never have started to sell
