How safe is to buy in ebay?

How safe it is to buy from ebay(locally)?

  • I want to know if it is safe to purchase items from e-bay.... How can I be of sure that my item will be sent to me though some sellers require payment first? Are there frauds on E-bay? Can someone tell me how to use the courier service? thank you very much.=)

  • Answer:

i sold a dvd player to a user on ebay. She didn't pay for 1 month. She said that after I ship the item to africa she would give me $500. Scammed. My daughter sold a vcr to a guy. The guy didn't pay for 3 months. And, she sold 2 PSP games. A guy bought never paid the money. Good thing is you can tell customer service and they will give the buyer a strike.

eBay can be a really great tool if you use it correctly and educate yourself on it. This is a really great step to ask for information. First off...whenever using eBay you definitely want to use Paypal. The reason being is that if you buy something and don't receive it, you will have the ability to file a complaint and get your money back. If you sell, you also want to always use a tracking number to ensure you have proof the item was shipped. Also, you want to look at the seller's feedback rating. Are they new, with less than 10 feedback? What is their percentage like? Or what do they're previous buyers say about them? Fraud is rampant on eBay as well. The saying "if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is" fits well here. If you do go out on a limb and buy something high dollar, have it checked out to ensure the validity. If you find it's a counterfeit, you can file a claim with paypal and return the item for a refund. If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me. Good luck!

it actually depends on how much you trust the site. Most people do not like to make transactions online as nowadays there are many hackers. If you send your bank account details online, the hackers can get them and you can say goodbye to your money. For me, i will never pay through online unless it is for game :) If i hav to make payments and etc online, i definitely will use pay-pal.

paypal is safe and you get your money back for a number of reasons if you report the seller. buyers need not worry. sellers have a harder time, as they are charged 3 times; once for listing, once for the paypal transaction, again for a "final value fee", which is based on the final price.

I have been using ebay for 5 years and probably spent $500.00 so far and never had a problem. To use it you first have to register and give them your bank acc. # then when you buy something they deduct that amount directly from it with a small service charge. Most of everything arrived to me in the mail in about a week.

Oh god! There are tons of frauds on Ebay, especially with electronics and jewelry. I've been using EBay a lot lately, so I'll let in on what I have noticed. First, always make sure that the seller has a positive feedback score, also see how many transactions they have participated in. You always want them to have a percentage rating in the 90's. Do not trust sellers with no feedback or rating. Second, always look for the return policy. If they have none, then they are obviously looking for a quick sell of an item that is not authentic so you can't return it. Third, communication is key. Email the seller to double check the item lives up to your standards. If they don't reply, don't bid. Fourth, always read the fine print and all of the item description. Yesterday, I was looking at ipods on ebay, and I found a really cheap one, for a newer model which I thought was wierd. Upon further reading, I found out it was NOT an ipod but a chinese rip off brand. Sellers will post inaccurate information so you buy it and then cannot return it. Fifth, do not trust second chance offers. Good luck! Never give out personal information as well.
