In which cases do you normally read product reviews?

Nowadays there are a lot of websites that provide product reviews such as Amazon, eBay, CNET reviews, even Yahoo Answers and many others. in what cases do you normally go to these places to read product reviews: for online shopping? for buying from a store? for product comparison? for finding more information about a product? or any other reason? (please mention)

I usually read product reviews if I'm buying clothing online. It's good because, you do want to pay for a sweater which is sized differently than your normal wear. Most online stores usually have product reviews from customers under the items you are viewing. I usually don't read reviews when buying from a store because I can simply test whatever the item is, right at the moment. Plus you can actually see the item. However, sometimes I read reviews on electronics because, for an example, I do not want to pay for a laptop which has a battery life of only 30 mins.
