Bidded on ebay, didn't know paypal was required, now what?
-
I bidded on an item on eBay that I know for fact nobody is going to bid on (graphing calculator) and I thought I could just pay it with my american express gift card, it completely works it has money on it. No scam intended, I just need a graphing calculator for class and I thought could easily pay for it. Someone told me you could only use paypal so i went back on later and it says the Payment details are a box with a bunch of credit card companys and over the box is the paypal logo. I don't have paypal or anything. ummmm how do I pay for this item and whats gonna happen if it doesn't get paid because I would really like to pay rather than screw this guy over. what do i do and whats gonna happen? can you email me with answers [email protected] (only if you want to) and I can I just give some1 with paypal my card code and they can do it for me?

Answer:
Don't you hate it when you want an answer and somebody wants to give you a lecture....Anyway, if you are old enough to even have a paypal, I suggest you signup for one. It is quick and painless :) they will ask that you confirm your email, and that email will be what you use to pay with paypal. They will eventually want you to verify your account by confirming/linking a bank account or card. But you have a $500 limit for receiving and spending (which they call sending) before they ask for confirming info again, at that time you confirm or you don't use your paypal anymore. Now, you can purchase a Moneypak card to load the funds into your account. The store will not let you use a debit card or gift card to add money, you have to pay cash. You cannot use the gift card....They seller can open an unpaid case against you, 3 of those and you are suspended...

No one should email you with answers. The whole point of this site is to ask and answer questions here. If someone else has a similar problem/question, they wouldn't get any help if your answers don't appear here. You HAVE to read payment terms BEFORE you bid on any item. And never assume no one else would bid on an item. There's nothing that unusual about a graphing calculator. If PayPal is required, then you have to use PayPal. Would you trust a complete stranger who tells you they have a gift card? You also don't give out your credit card information to just anyone. PayPal makes it safe for all involved. The best way would be to create a PayPal account using another credit card (not a gift card), and pay for the item.

If the seller has it enabled, you can pay through the PayPal interface W/O a PayPal account. The seller probably has it enabled, unless it specifies "Buyer Must Have PayPal Account." If the seller uses the PP logo w/the cards, that usually means you don't need a PP account.
