How do i customize Toolbar Messenger?

Trying to customize my toolbar but even after I check or uncheck boxes and click finish and refresh can't doit

I was signed into Yahoo and tried many times to customize my toolbar. Every time I check or uncheck what I want on the toolbar and click finish it doesn't change the toolbar to what I want. Why can't I customize my toolbar? I tried thru Internet Explorer and Firefox. I have both. Even when I tried to refresh the toolbar it didn't work
Answer:

you will need to close the browser and open it again from the desktop or quick launch or wherever you have the internet explorer icon. If still it does not work you just might have to restart you computer to activate changes.
