How do I get rid of my yahoo toolbar?

How do I get rid of this resource hogging yahoo toolbar?

  • How did I get and how do I get rid of this resource hogging, computer virus called Yahoo Toolbar. It seems to come with other "bought" software as a virus. Why should I need to deal with Yahoo slowing down my computer. Now, I'm searching the little pencil and all the other 'stupid' little games to get this crap off of my computer when I never wanted or would have agreed to it in the first place! After, I finally figure out, after much searching, how to get it off of my computer, I need to do a search in the registry and the rest of the computer to make sure that all of the Yahoo resource hogging stuff is completely off of "my" computer.....

  • Answer:

There are two ways: 1) Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs, then look for the Yahoo! Toolbar entry. 2) From the Yahoo! Toolbar, click Settings(avatar)->Help->Uninstall Toolbar. Yoiu most likely got the Yahoo! Toolbar by not paying attention to some freeware application's installation. They often offer to install toolbars as a way to fund their software development. If you're not careful (not paying attention) during installations you can end up with these unwanted toolbars. If the Yahoo! Toolbar is "hogging resources" on your computer, you've got bigger problems. The Y! Toolbar has a very light resource footprint. If I had to guess, I would suspect you picked up either a virus or spyware/malware as part of a download. You should consider doing a complete virus scan and spyware scan before you start blaming the Y! Toolbar. -T

I also have the unwanted yahoo toolbar . I know the source of mine but I'm not sure how to get rid of it. You may have to make a trade off .Yahoo must have a trade agreement with Java . I updated to Java 6 - 11 so Java operated programs would work faster and the toolbar was embedded in the Java program. You wont see it listed in the programs area because it' is part of another program you are using.
