Taskbar icons disappeared. ?

i have vista. and i turned my pc on and my battery, internet connection, and volume taskbar i cons have disappeared. i tried going to the task manager and deleting the sysu thing it wasn't there(that isn't the right name i cant remember it exactly) and tried looking online nothing worked, also when i right click on the taskbar and go to properties then notification area they are locked. 10pts
