How do I keep yahoo classic as my only home page?

How do i keep the Yahoo Tool Bar from loading onto my home page?

  • I loaded the new Yahoo! beta mail on an older machine and it caused crashed and redirections. I went back to the old Yahoo! mail. Now if I try to do any operation on Yahoo! with the Yahoo! toolbar on my page including checking mail the computer crashes with an IExplorer issue. I have to restart to unfreeze the Explorer.

    It sounds like your toolbar has become corrupted. Uninstall Yahoo! Toolbar from Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs. Then, if you wish, reinstall it from: http://toolbar.yahoo.com/

Like the other responder said, the toolbar may be corrupted. However, I think it is more likely that Internet Explorer is sick (the toolbar just made IE worse) or you have spyware/virus on your system. I'm leaning toward spyware. If you are on IE 6 and you can upgrade, go to IE 7. Before you do, I would run a full virus scan and also a full spyware scan. If you don't have an anti-spyware product, try SuperAntiSpyware (free version) from superantispyware.com. I do not have any affiliation with superantispyware. Other good free spyware scanners are Lavasoft 2007, Spybot S&D, and AVG Antispyware 7.5, a-squared and a host of others. But the ones I mention here are all free and will remove spyware and I have used them on many occasions. Also I would uninstall the toolbar for the interim. If you need to get to your mail, just goto mail.yahoo.com.
