How do i turn on add a tab to my tool bar?

When I click on Mail tab in tool bar (or go to Yahoo Mail) once I click to see my mail I get a blank screen.?

  • I recently reformatted my Compaq Presario C700. Everything has been running fine, except my mail. It doesn't do this all the time, but frequently when I click my Mail tab in my toolbar, I will get nothing but a white-blank screen. This also happens when I go to Yahoo directly. Another thing that has me puzzled is: when I try to close out the tab I can't. All I get is a ding sound. It's like it completely freezes up. I have Yahoo Finance as my homepage, and never have any issue. Another thing: I notice that the add-ons (think that's what their called) in my toolbar will sometimes only have 3 of the 6 add-ons I use when I open IE...sometimes their fine, sometimes not. I know that this can mean my OS has been infected with a virus, but I got rid of the virus I had when I reformatted (I hope so anyways lol). I have ran AVG 9.0 (free version) several times and have found nothing. Windows defender (now disabled since downloading AVG) found no virus either. I have been messing around with add-ons...taking some off. I have the AVG toolbar turned off. Could this be affecting something? I also notice my status bar is Soooooo slow when I am trying to open my mail...only sometimes though. Should I have "lock the toolbars" checked? I currently have it unchecked. I have tried both ways, but still the problem persists. I defrag every week and clean out my cookies almost everyday. Recently, it began taking longer to defrag. I have alot of free space on drive C, but only 16% free on drive D. Could this have anything to do with the issue? I have Google search, in addition to my Yahoo search window and toolbar. Can this be a problem? I appreciate any help with this problem(s). Had laptop for a year and a half. Never download things. Use to day trade and research. Thanks!

  • Answer:

I don't have any magic fix for you. However, if you want to take the AVG toolbar out of the equation then re-install AVG (uncheck the box for Security Toolbar). Also try using Yahoo email under a different browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, Opera, Safari). I suggest Google Chrome. Use site mail.yahoo.com. See if you have the same problem. If you don't then the problem is localized to Internet Explorer. If you are using IE 7 which came with Vista, then try upgrading IE 7 to IE 8. I use the Firefox add-on AdBlock Plus and the Google Chrome Extension Adblock to get rid of the advertising (which can improve the email web page performance). I don't use any ad blocker (e.g. AdMuncher) on Internet Explorer because I don't want any third-party software messing with the Winsock LSP chain. Lock the Toolbars and Google Search is meaningless for your problem. Hope this info helps you. Good luck.
