What happen to the bookmarks on yahoo?

After finding out here that the IE 8 that Yahoo suggested I download doesn't work yet with Yahoo bookmarks I?

  • wrote Yahoo about it and got the following email back:Thank you for writing to Yahoo! Toolbar. We are sorry to hear that you are unable to add Bookmarks. In order for us to assist you more efficiently we would like to know if the missing links were part of your browser, or were they part of the Yahoo! Toolbar? For more information about the Yahoo! Toolbar, please visit: http://toolbar.yahoo.com If the links were part of your browser you will need to consult your browser's help section for further assistance. Thank you again for contacting Yahoo! Toolbar. Regards, Titus The error message I get when I try to add a bookmark "is" from Microsoft and says it has found a problem and has to close. It closes the tab...sort of... and then there flashes a quick little message..something about closing but reopening the tab? So "is" this a Yahoo problem? Is it a Microsoft problem? I have read about others here at Answers with the same problem who said that Yahoo hasn't caught up completely with the new IE 8 and Bookmarks was one of the things Yahoo hasn't integrated yet. Now I'm confused. Is is Yahoo? Is it Microsoft? Is there some way I can fix this. I tried trying to change back to IE 7. When I took off IE 8 I wasn't able to get online. Yahoo was my only homepage. So I ended up reinstalling the 8. Yesterday I created other home pages. Would that allow me to get back online and change back to 7? or do I need to totally change or add a 2nd browser. I really don't know what I'm talking about so please bear with me as this may not make any sense. I use my Yahoo Bookmarks a lot and without them, I'm not enjoying my use of my pc. It just feels too frustrating. I'm not sure if I worded the above correctly, being pc illiterate, but if anyone can make sense of it and give me any ideas, I'd sure appreciate it. I'm not even sure I'm allowed to change browsers. I have an XP. It's times like this that I know I need to know more about these things...otherwise I just go merrily along enjoying my pcing.

  • Answer:

You explained that very well and you are not losing your mind. IE 8 is very buggy and a lot of people have had numerous problems with it and removed it from their system. Did you properly delete IE8 by going into your add/remove programs section? Go to start menu located in the left lower hand corner of your screen Click>> Control Panel Click>> Add/Remove Programs Click on program you want to Un-install>> IE8 When you delete IE8 you have to restart in order for the change to take effect. You should then automatically revert back to IE7 if that was the version you were using before. Although, some people reported having the same problems as you, they say it's because IE8 sometimes deletes IE7. Others have re-downloaded IE7 from microsoft, before they delete 8 - just to make sure they have no issues. Many users are switching browsers! You can always download Firefox and use that as your alternate browser, it is much safer than IE and I highly suggest it. You can have both browsers on your pc & use whichever one you wish and it will not cause any problems. Firefox is also customizable with many themes and add-ons, you may really like it. I do!
