How do i get rid of yahoo search bar. it doesnt show up in the menu bar or the tool bar (win xp?

manage search provider. shows yahoo as "default" no way to remove

Answer:
The IE search provider box is an extension of the browser address bar; that's why it doesn't show up as a toolbar or in add/remove programs. You can not hide or remove the search box. Click the down arrow (to the right of the magnifying glass icon), click Manage Search Providers and click/add the search engine you want to be the default. Click Set as default. Click Yahoo! Click Remove, click Close.
