How do I transfer my "favorites" list to a new computer?

Is it possible to transfer your favorites from the favorites center to the favorites centr of nother computer?

  • I was wondering if you can do a direct transfer of your favorite links that are saved in the favorite center to the center of a new computer? I don't like the idea of having to them one by one, adding one after another. I woulD appreciate any help, thank you!

  • Answer:

The traditional approach is to export your IE favorites to a file, transfer the file to a removable media and then import on another computer. There's also the Microsoft Easy Transfer program to facilitate migrating from an old to new computer or after restoring your Operating System/boot drive. However, I think maybe you are looking for the facility to sync your IE favorites across computers. The Windows Live Toolbar (part of Windows Live Essentials) may be what you are looking for. You can add the SkyDrive button to the Windows Live Toolbar and that allows you to backup/access your IE favorites. A sync program is also installed with Windows Live Essentials to keep your Favorites in sync. I really don't want to get into all the nuts and bolts, so I suggest you install the toolbar, add the Skydrive button, do some reading and experiment. Good luck.

If you just want to transfer all your Favorites using the "traditional" method per Mr Goodbar, then click the IE file button (on the IE Menu Bar) and click Import and Export.
