How to delete yahoo toolbar?

How do I delete the notification bell (icon) on the Yahoo Toolbar 2.3.4 for Mozilla Firefox?

There is a black bell-shaped notification icon sometimes containing a number on the right-hand side of the Yahoo! Toolbar. How do I delete it because it is such a nuisance and why is it even there? After doing some research, I discovered that it is not in the tutorial, so why is it on the toolbar? I understand that someone else on Y! Answers had the exact same question, but no response. I've also contacted AT&T as well as Yahoo! Customer Care twice and to no avail. Please help!!! SERIOUS RESPONSES ONLY!!! Thank you in advance!

The bell is the icon access to Yahoo! Updates. Unfortunately there is no way to take it off of the Yahoo! Toolbar. The best that you can do is manage your updates (by hiding your profile, if necessary). Click on the bell, then click on the small gear icon on the Updates pop-up menu to manage your configuration. I agree with you - I also find it a nuisance and wish it could be removed completely. Until Yahoo! decides that this should be an option, we'll just have to deal with it. Good luck, -T
