Why have my bookmarks disappeared?

Why have all my bookmarks disappeared from my toolbar?

  • I have launched BT Yahoo today and all my saved bookmarks have gone. Toolbar at the top is unusable and when I open the sidebar and tick bookmarks it shows no bookmarks saved? Any ideas?

  • Answer:

This appears to be a Yahoo fault, not a user problem, and there is hardly any advice posted on the internet explaining one very easy method which will bring all your Bookmarks back – though in a different place. Here is my solution:- On your Yahoo Home page single left click on the box marked “Add Content.” (This box is identified by the green cross in the top left corner.) At the very far right of the page that opens is a purple heading “Browse Content.” Scroll to the bottom of that list, and there you find “All Categories.” Single left click this option to reveal “Tools & Reference.” Single left click this one, and in the black screen space to your left you will now see a number of icons, one of which is “Bookmarks.” Single left click this box, and you will find your Bookmarks now added to your Home page, right above the Mail Preview box. You can now drag this new “Bookmarks” box down your Home page so that it sits below your Mail Preview. From now on – unless BT has more problems with Yahoo - your bookmarks will be permanently accessible. Happy Bookmarking!

I have the same problem on BT Yahoo. I've lost 4 years worth of bookmarks and its a huge pain in the bum! I was recommended this web address on another answer http://bookmarks.yahoo.com/ and i can now access my bookmarks although they are still not available via the toolbar but it has to be better than loosing them completely. HTH :)

I have Verizon Yahoo and I am having the same problem. My bookmarks are missing from my toolbar and the bookmarks menu is disabled. I was able to restore the bookmarks menu by reinstalling Yahoo toolbar. I found my bookmarks at bookmarks.yahoo.com, but I still can't figure out how to get my bookmarks back into my toolbar in my Verizon Yahoo browser.

I contacted bt about this and they told me to do the following. Upgrade to IE 8 which I already tried, and tdo the following. 1. Log onto the internet 2. Go to http://bookmarks.yahoo.com 3. Sign in with your BT email address and password 4. This will bring up a list of your bookmarks 5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on Tools 6. Click on "Export Bookmarks" 7. Make sure that all the bookmarks are selected 8. Below that where it say "Select Export Format" make sure it is set to for Internet Explorer and click "Export" 9. Save to the desktop 10. Open Internet Explorer 11. Then click on File, then Import 12. Select "Favourites" click Next 13. Browse to the "Bookmarks" file that should now be on your desktop and click Next 14. Your Bookmarks should now be in the favourites tab in Internet Explorer trouble is all this does is a) put a folder of your favorites on your desktop and B) add your favorites to your IE toolbar which of course is not the one you want them in, they wont go into the BT toolbar favorites. In other words a total waste of time . I tried to tell the moron it was not just a BT issue but was a Yahoo worldwide one but he didnt want to know.

This is a worldwide issue. I'm in the US and the same thing happened, from one day to the next.
