How do I get the red 'Y' for Yahoo back on the toolbar?

I hate the new Yahoo toolbar. How can I get the old toolbar back?

• I downloaded the new yahoo toolbar, only because it claimed that i would get email alerts, thereby doing away with the need to sign-in to find out if there was new mail. As it turns out, you have to be signed-in in order for the alerts to function. What's the point?! If I wasn't signed-in it reverted back to my old Yahoo toolbar and the NEW toolbar that I spent so much time customizing disappeared. I tried all of the stupid fixes; nothing worked. I uninstalled it. Now my old yahoo toolbar is gone as well. I'd like to get the old toolbar back. Anyone know if this is possible?

  You might be able to get an earlier version of Y! Toolbar from www.download.com. Search on www.download.com for 'yahoo toolbar'. But, wait a second, why is it that you want to go back to an earlier version? You say that you don't like how your personalized button layout disappears when you sign out. But that's how previous versions of the toolbar work too. In fact, that's how all of Yahoo works. For example, you can create your own customized my.yahoo.com page, but you can only see your customized version if you are logged in.
