How do I permanently remove the Yahoo task bar?

How do I remove yahoo search from my task bar/?

  • Answer:

If you are talking about Yahoo Desktop Search, you should be able to remove it using add or remove programs. If you are talking about the search bar on the yahoo toolbar, you can't remove it from the toolbar (it is a fixed non-editable button). I'm not sure about your reference to the task bar (the blue bar at the bottom of the screen). If so, please clarify. **************************************… Added 10/28/07: The area you are talking about is typically known as the system tray (the proper name under XP is the notification area). I had heard that Yahoo had a desktop search, but it appears to have been replaced by a vendor search product called X1. Again, see if you can find a product in add or remove programs that has a name like Yahoo search. If not, then right click an empty blue area in the taskbar and look at the entries (including toolbars) and see if you can uncheck something that looks like it belongs to Yahoo. If that is unsuccessful, then the program that puts the icon in the system tray would be started when you logon to Windows. In other words there would be a Run registry key associated with the program. You could use Msconfig to remove the run key ( I don't know what the program name is but you probably can figure it out because it would come from a Yahoo folder). Make sure you take a System Restore point before making changes. Sorry about the late response. http://www.netsquirrel.com/msconfig/index.html
