Why do I always get 0 results in yahoo member search directory when searching for a member?
-
I do not understand why the member search always gives me 0 results for members I know that exist. It is like the member search is there as a joke or a prank always giving you zero results even if you search for yourself. It appears to be useless. Is there a third party search that can find profiles from yahoo id's

Answer:
This is a recurring Yahoo problem for which the answer to how we users can fix it, is nothing. It goes down routinely for several weeks to a couple of months -- strangely, about each November and May -- and it will miraculously reappear working again probably sometime the start of August or so. Yahoo never fixes it, they give lame polite replies ignoring the details when you write them on it, and the're arrogant and common-senseless enough not to think to put some type of related message or update on the main Search page. It's extremely unprofessional and will just go on not working for a long, long time, without Yahoo caring about it or us its users.

I have been trying to use search for the past 2 months with no success. This is a common problem with yahoo and from the answers it sounds like most folks are using other sites like my space instead. Yahoo is going down the tubes! They messed up the microsoft deal and now they are losing loyal customers. what a pity.

I know what you are experiencing for it also is happening to me. Although a few months back all my search attempts were working fine. Something has changed either on Yahoo's end or maybe some update on my antivirus program that is blocking information. But that seems unlikely since all of my other programs are working fine. I suspect yahoo has done something new that is at the root of this problem. I also would like to know what the solution is.

Are the names and address correct? If not, it will give you 0 results. If you search for yourself, the server recognizes where the search is being initiated and assumption is made that you know yourself- hence, 0 result. I don't know of any third party that can search from Yahoo IDs.
