Domain names expire. If you go to http://www.whois.net/ and type in your domain there, it will tell you who owns it and when it expires. If it's still in date, then contact your service provider to find out of their systems are down.

http://www.doggydomains.com has a program called traffic blazer that helps you optimize your site for the search engines and then helps you submit your site to those engines. I think it's only like $20.
