Why Yahoo is not doing this? Yahoo can give tough fight to Google if it changes its home page?

  • If Yahoo makes the www.yahoo.com contain only the search bar and provide a link for the main page along with some other limited links with no extra text or Images then it will generate ineterest to make more users use Yahoo search since many open yahoo.com for mail,games etc. Yahoo will give tough fight to Google if it does this.

    certainly agree with ya guy. They have to get back to their basics. Rather then putting a million things on a homepage and slowing down the explorer.

Yahoo tries to give people more options of things to do, so that youll stay on their site longer and visit their advertisers and sites they do business with.

That's because Google started out as, and still is, a search engine. Yes, they have a few other properties, but not on the scale of properties that Yahoo has (mail, messenger, greetings cards, music, personals, cars, news, groups and of course, Answers!). Yahoo! didn't start out as a search engine like Google, and so has a different focus. They can change that over time, but how would users of all the other products get to them if they took them off the front page?
